North Star Promise

Student at a computer; text reads "Are you eligible for free college tuition?"Beginning in Fall 2024, the North Star Promise (NSP) Scholarship program will create a tuition and fee-free pathway to higher education for eligible Minnesota residents at eligible institutions. The NSP scholarship is considered a “last-dollar” program by covering the balance of tuition (excludes differential tuition) and fees (excludes special course fees) remaining after other scholarships, grants, stipends, and tuition waivers have been applied.

Basic Eligibility Requirements

  • Family Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) below $80,000 (based on the (FAFSA) or )
  • Enrollment in a Minnesota public higher education institution or Tribal College in a course of study that applies to a degree, diploma, or certificate

Additional Requirements

  • Take at least one credit in the semester
  • Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards
  • Not have already earned a baccalaureate degree
  • Not be in default on a state or federal student loan

Application Process

  • Complete the (FAFSA) or .
  • The 色中色 Financial Aid Office will then determine eligibility and award North Star Promise scholarships to qualified students.
