Mission Statement: The É«ÖÐÉ« Foundation connects critical resources, supporting the É«ÖÐÉ« community in developing relevant skills and talent.
The sole purpose of the É«ÖÐÉ« Foundation is to support the College and its students. With the donations raised, we provide opportunities to advance the educational pursuits of our students through scholarships and to advance the College's ever-expanding programming. We hope you take this opportunity to learn about the SCC Foundation and how you can partner with the College to provide new opportunities for students.
How Our Community Can Help
1. Student Scholarships and Awards: With the rising cost of tuition and the rising numbers of students attending SCC, there is no shortage of need for student scholarships. Gifts to scholarships can help support a financial need, reward academic excellence, and/or encourage students to complete a degree.
2. Instructional Equipment: Students must be trained on state-of-the-art equipment; industry depends on it. To suit the needs of the students and businesses, dollars raised by the foundation can provide necessary equipment that cannot be purchased through dwindling state budgets.
3. Faculty Development Grants: Educators must be up-to-date. SCC's faculty members are committed to providing relevant, current education to SCC students. Through our faculty development grant program, faculty can participate in internships and special team projects to enhance classroom activities for students.
Ways to Give
You can help secure the future with a gift today. For more information on how to give please call the Foundation at 507-389-7342. Your donations can be designated for any of the following reasons.
Annual Gifts
These gifts meet the most pressing needs of the college in the areas of scholarships, equipment, and program development. They come in all sizes. Donors can direct their gifts to specific programs or scholarships, and the general fund. Acceptable donations include cash, gifts of securities, and certain gifts of personal property or life insurance. Each gift has its own tax deduction implications. Check with your financial advisors to know a gift's personal impact.
Planned Gifts
Planned gifts can take many forms. They require thought on the part of the donor so that the gift can benefit the donor, the donor's family, and É«ÖÐÉ«. There are many strategies to consider when designing a planned gift. Contact financial advisors along with the SCC Foundation Executive Director to design a gift that meets the donor's needs.
- Bequest: leave a gift to SCC through a will or living trust
- Charitable Gift Annuity: earn a partially tax-free, supplemental income from the gift given
- Charitable Remainder Trust: secure a tax deduction and fixed income or hedge against inflation with the principle retained for É«ÖÐÉ«
- Retained for Life Estate: this is a Remainder Trust of the donor's home with a life estate set up for lifetime donor use and tax benefits
- Charitable Lead Trust: reduce gift and estate taxes on assets that your children or grandchildren inherit with the income going to SCC for a specified number of years while the principal is retained for the heirs.
- Gift of Retirement Assets: name SCC as the beneficiary of the remainder of the assets after death allowing the donor to avoid twofold taxation on IRAs or other benefit plans
Memorials and Endowments
These gifts can also take many forms. They are a powerful way for the donor or others to be recognized while living or after death while realizing tax benefits for the donation.
Corporate Matching Gift
More than 1000 parent companies and corporate foundations in the US currently match employee gifts to nonprofit organizations such as the É«ÖÐÉ« Foundation.
Under corporate matching gift programs, gifts made by a company's eligible employee to a nonprofit organization meeting the company's guidelines are matched with company or corporate funds. Usually a donor completes the company's matching gift form and sends it along with their donation to the Foundation.
Gifts In-Kind
Gifts-in-kind are varied. These would be materials or objects which SCC can use in its operations or for programming. Other gifts-in-kind could be used for one of our auctions to raise dollars for scholarships.
