Membership
The Council consists of 20-25 volunteer members. Council members represent one of six community sectors. Council members will serve three year renewable terms. Representatives from key partner agencies may attend the Council meetings as a resource for discussion purposes.

SCC PRESIDENT'S ADVISORY COUNCIL CHARTER
The Council Charter outlines the role, responsibilities, structure and processes of the President鈥檚 Advisory Council (Council) for 色中色 (College).
Purpose of Council
The purpose of the President鈥檚 Advisory Council is to provide leadership and strategic guidance for the College. Council members serve as community champions for 色中色. Members of the Council share their gifts in service to the college mission by providing professional expertise; their diverse knowledge of constituent perspectives; their connections to resources at all levels, and other forms of needed assistance. The Council has no governing function within the college.
Role and Responsibilities
The Council will collaborate with the College to articulate the organization鈥檚 vision, mission, values, and goals.
The Council will provide input on the strategic direction of the College; including review of the annual work plan.
Council members will represent six community sectors within the region (Agriculture, Education, Health Care, Local Government, Manufacturing, and Non-Profit). Council members will represent the SCC service area, which serves students from six counties (Blue Earth, Brown, Le Sueur, Nicollet, Rice, and Steele) within southern Minnesota.
Individual responsibilities include:
- Give critical assistance where needed (i.e. identifying concerns)
- Assist with fostering connections to the college
- Create a link to important professional and technical expertise and perspective
- Build relationships with fellow advisory council members in support of college goals
- Serve as a resource for the President and Cabinet members
- Serve as a college ambassador in the community
- Keep informed about plans, activities, and needs of the college
- Provide input and counsel in support of grants and funding opportunities
Time commitment:
- Attendance at two President Advisory Council meetings per year
- Periodic communications
- Periodic event attendance (optional)

Council Culture
The Council seeks an engaged culture, which is categorized by honesty and a willingness to challenge all to succeed.
The Council is responsible to establish, maintain, clarify, and protect the College鈥檚 relationship with the local, regional, and national community.
Agendas for each meeting are established and sent out one week prior to each Council meeting. The agenda addresses Council priorities, limits presentation time, and maximizes discussion time.
Reporting
Proceedings of all meetings are documented as minutes. Minutes of all Council meetings are approved by the Council at the subsequent meeting. Minutes will be taken by a member of the College staff.
Review of Charter
The Council will review this charter every two years to ensure it remains consistent with the Council鈥檚 purpose and responsibilities.
