Biden-Harris Administration Advanced Manufacturing Workforce Sprint Roundtable Kick-off Tomorrow in DC

Photograph of Dr. ParkerOn Friday, October 6, 色中色 (SCC) President Annette Parker will be in Washington, DC to participate in a roundtable discussion to launch the Biden-Harris Administration鈥檚 Advanced Manufacturing Workforce Sprint. Last week the White House invited Parker and other national figures with expertise in advanced manufacturing workforce to join the roundtable.

In May, the Administration a new Advanced Manufacturing Workforce Sprint to create a pipeline of talent in this field by cultivating and amplifying high-road training efforts to support our manufacturing agenda鈥攊ncluding creating and expanding registered apprenticeship programs, expanding career and technical education (CTE) programs, developing high-quality education and training standards, and providing supportive services that enable diverse groups of workers to succeed in good advanced manufacturing jobs and careers. The kick-off will allow the Administration to announce initial commitments to the sprint, bring stakeholders together around key initiatives, and cultivate strategic partnerships.

As an internationally respected expert in workforce development, Parker has often been called upon to speak on the topic at the federal level. Last month she spoke at a Virtual Roundtable on Community College and STEM Workforce co-hosted by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), National Science Foundation (NSF), U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). In 2021, she testified at a hearing of the U.S. House Committee on Small Business鈥檚 Subcommittee on Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Workforce Development. She has also sat on many national committees and boards, including President Obama鈥檚 Advanced Manufacturing Partnership 2.0 Steering Committee and various committees for The National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine.
