The SCC Advising Team supports students’ path to graduation. Academic advisors are available for virtual and on-campus appointments. Appointments are scheduled at least 24 hours in advance to allow each student to receive a comprehensive advising appointment.

Elizabeth has been working at ɫɫ - Faribault since April of 1998. She graduated from the University of Minnesota: Duluth with an education degree in Mathematics. Elizabeth taught for a short time before transitioning to higher education. She enjoys using her skills to help promote student growth and exploration outside the classroom.
In her spare time, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and going to concerts and plays. Elizabeth understands the benefit of a small community and technical college that’s close to home, as all her children have taken classes at SCC.

Abbey came to ɫɫ in December 2021. Before joining the Advising team at SCC, she earned her A.A. in Humanities at Santa Barbara City College, her B.S. in Animal Behavior at Carroll University, and her M.S. in Higher Education Administration at the University of North Dakota. Before working in Higher Education, Abbey worked as a zookeeper focusing on animal enrichment. She loves using the knowledge she gained in school to train dogs in her free time (especially her Corgi, Penny Lane).

Angie James

Angie has been part of the SCC community since 2018, first serving as faculty, then an interim disability coordinator, and since 2019 as an academic advisor. She has her B.S. from South Dakota State University in Agriculture Education, and her M.S. from MSU, Mankato in Special Education: Learning Disabilities. Angie spent the first decade and a half of her career as a middle/high school teacher and FFA advisor. In her spare time you can find her and her husband cheering on their two children at cross country, track and Vex Robotics meets as well as training for races anywhere from a 5K to a marathon preferably run in Walt Disney World.

Matthew began his post-secondary journey at a technical and community college and was a transfer student, where he pursued his degree in elementary education. He spent seven years in primary education settings before shifting his passions to serving students in a college environment. Matthew earned his doctorate, focusing on the impacts to Adult Learners. When Matthew is not researching best advising practices, he enjoys lifting, gaming, cycling, hunting, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with loved ones.

Nik Proehl

Nik joined the SCC Advising team in the spring of 2022. Previously he spent 16 years working in mental health for the State of Minnesota. He earned his B.S. and M.A. in Sociology from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and is working toward his Doctor of Education in Higher Education Administration at St. Cloud State University. When he is not helping students succeed, he can be found hiking, running, playing board games, or testing his culinary abilities.
